After spending many winters in South Florida, there are certainly a couple of places that have captured my heart the most. One of them has the softest white sand, casual beach retreats and restaurants, and the most fantastic sunsets you've ever seen. Fort Meyers Beach is a very popular destination among midwesterners, and it's pretty clear why this place has become so popular. I can always count on a fully relaxing stay and care-free days spent in the sun.
If you're planning on visiting soon, I have some great recommendations for you to make your trip even more special. March and April I particularly love to visit--especially after spring break once things have died down a bit. A long weekend is the perfect winter retreat--here's a glimpse at what you might enjoy.
Stay Here
After flying into RSW, make your way to the island and check-in at one of these beloved FMB resorts. Tried and true, these are the best places to stay:
Matanzas (on the bay)

Eat/Drink This
MoJoe's Coffee Cafe: you've probably seen plenty of photos I've posted of the kitties that like to hang out here in the morning, too. Order a breakfast bagel and an almond joy latté!
Fresh Catch Bistro: my favorite place for dinner with unique seafood dishes such as hogfish. If you're in the mood for steak, you can't go wrong either. They specialize in martinis, too.
Junkanoo: Located right below Fresh Catch, this is my favorite beach dive bar. Order a Bahama mama and some grouper bites before you watch the gorgeous sunset.
Shucker's: Great for brunch, lunch or dinner...I love sitting along the windows facing the beach for great people watching. Also great for a sunset (view) cocktail! After dinner, stop by their sister-bar next door, The Cottage, for a night-cap and some live music.
Matanza's: In the heart of town, alongside the bay. Matanza's has great food and service, I recommend coming in for a fun and casual dinner.
Felipe's Mexican Taqueria: In the mood for Mexican? Their enchiladas and chimichangas are excellent...not to mention their top-shelf, simple margaritas.
Bayfront Bistro: In my opinion, the fanciest restaurant in FMB. Also located along the bayside. There are lots of options here, and I love coming in for date night dinner.
Zushi Zushi: Sometimes you're just in the mood for sushi, and this spot does it right! Try one of their massive sushi boats if you're coming in with a big group (or appetite).
Kilwins: Best ice cream (and homemade waffle cones) in FMB!
Trico Fish Market: Right across the bridge, you can find fresh shrimp, stone crab, lobster, and more!
To-Do
Jet Ski Dolphin Tour: Book a morning tour with All Island Watersports, they have a great online booking system. You can also rent jet skis and make your own tour.
Rent Bikes: Having a bike is crucial for getting around the island. You can even bike on the beach! Quicky Cycles has a great and convenient operation.
Beach Picnic: Stop by Publix and make a picnic basket to bring to the beach, don't forget the rosé :)
Shell Collecting: FMB is a great beach to collect shells on, especially at sunrise or sunset when the beach is a bit quieter.
Parasailing: A great way to get a spectacular view of the island, I'd recommend Ranalli Parasail to book your adventure.
Shopping in Times Square: Find all your beach essentials at Winds, The Islander, West Coast Surf Shop, and Mango Bay.
Above all else, FMB is a vacation oasis; your trip to relaxation and honest-to-goodness fun. It's where you can simply enjoy a beach day and let your worries and stress melt away. Have a great spring break wherever you may be. I hope my travel guide points you in all the right directions. And as always, I love getting your messages and questions if you have any!
