Just like you, I've been spending copious amounts of time inside lately. While it is an unnerving time period (things WILL eventually get better, they always do) my mindset is to stay positive, at ease, and eager to learn more and do things I've been putting off for too long. One of my favorite hobbies it to cook...I think the kitchen is my family's favorite place to spend time together, which makes it a great place to be.
Maybe you've watched some of my "Insta Stories" and are familiar with the fact that I love cooking...mostly because I love eating! But cooking truly is therapy for me, and it most certainly could be for you, too!
Now I would like to give a shout-out to my muses. The lovely chefs, bakers, and food bloggers that are generous enough to share their recipes for those of us that enjoy spending absurd amounts of time looking at food on their laptop during the day. Here's to you! And here are a few of my favorites...
1. Well Plated
I have been making Erin's recipes for over a year now, and just found out she is also a Midwest girl! *Bonus Points* ...I love Erin's recipes because they are simple AND healthy with a flavorful twist. I'm all about the Instant Pot and One-Pan recipes, which are right up her alley. I even used her recipe for my Strawberry Birthday Cake this year! PS- her new cookbook is coming out in August!
Some days call for a really good salad, soup, or both. You may be familiar with her cookbook "Seriously Good Salads" but, it was her Tuscan Chicken Soup recipe that lead me to Nicky's blog. Not to mention I love her British accent which comes alive in her recipes! ☺︎
3. NYT Cooking
My go-to for...EVERYTHING! I finally broke down and subscribed this year because I was frequenting their web site so much. From salmon to chocolate chip cookies, their recipe box is constantly growing. I also love the fact that this is a community of people that enjoy cooking and want everyone to have the best experience. That said, make sure to scroll through the reviews before you get your apron on; there might be some awesome tips to perfect your dish.
And for the last course, my beloved baker and blogger, Sally. Sometimes I just enjoy gazing at her appetizing and aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed. For any sweet craving, just ask Sally...she's the sweetest!
Now it's time to get back to my kitchen and make some dinner. Sending out positive and healthy vibes to you; we will get through this together. Happy cooking!
XOXO Golden Girl
