Molly's Muse No. 20: Happy Fall, Y'All
Updated: Oct 20, 2021
It finally feels like fall to me at home...now that the temperatures have dropped! The leaves are peaking and the air is crisp. I'm burning my favorite mulled cider candles, and my home is warm and cozy inside. It really is my favorite time of year for many reasons. The fall fashion, cooking, baking, and beautiful outdoor landscapes...and the assortment of spiced lattés at my favorite coffee shop.
This week I'm sharing with you some of my favorite "Fall Finds" ...this includes: a cozy cookbook I picked up, my favorite fall candles, new boots to splurge on, and the cutest DIY pumpkins. *Feel free to enjoy with your choice of spiced latté* 🙂
Comfort Food from the
I made this skillet chicken last week after finding the recipe here on Ina Garten's website. I can safely say this will now be on rotation all fall and winter long! It's easy, healthy and oh-so-tasty. Instead of slicing the potatoes with a knife, I used my mandolin to make them extremely thin...this allowed them to crisp up nicely and really soak in all the flavors from the chicken. I swiftly ordered her cookbook that includes this recipe, plus many more cozy weeknight dishes to try: Modern Comfort Food - Amazon, $19
Mulled Cider, Warm Spice, and everything nice
The holy grail of fall and holiday candles are RIGHT HERE! Lantern Hill Candles have been burning in our home for years. Barb is an extremely talented candle (and more!) maker, and she also has the sweetest soul. If you live in the area, you can simply pick them up at her charming farmhouse. You can also buy them online, or find them in some local boutiques. My two favorite scents are mulled cider and warm spice, and I always buy the large jars since I am burning them like nonstop. They also make the most wonderful gifts! Large Warm Spice - Lantern Hill, $21.99
Sarah Flint Splurge
After just retiring my favorite boots after their SEVENTH season, I've learned it is so worth it to splurge on a pair (or two) of staple boots that will live in your closet season after season. This year, I had the opportunity to become a brand ambassador for one of my favorite designers--Sarah Flint! Sarah designs classic, sophisticated, quality shoes that work with all of my outfits.
This fall, she brought back The Perfect Zip Bootie ($575) in this gorgeous espresso brown! I love this rich color with the luxe gold hardware and a 1-inch heel (there is also a 2.75 inch heel option). These also come in black leather and are of course, loaded with Sarah Flint comfort padding so they will quickly become your most comfortable shoes.
Sarah also launched a brand new design--The Perfect Stretch Boot ($695) in this beautiful taupe suede (one of my favorite shades because it goes with everything!) and also in black. They have a 1-inch heel, are water resistant, and are loaded with extra padding so you can walk all day in comfort.

Paint a Pretty Pumpkin
Put away your carving kit this year, and pull out the paint set. I am obsessed with this painted pumpkin inspired by my ultimate muse, Martha Stewart.
Painting a pumpkin gives you so many creative options. I love how this pumpkin got a nice white base (spray painted!) so that the leaves really pop. Then, use acrylic paints, paint markers, and chalk markers to make your designs.
Head over to your local craft supply store to explore endless options. Learn more about this project on Martha's website: DIY Decorative Painted Pumpkins
Thanks for joining me in this week's Muse. I hope your weekend is full of leaf peeping, spiced coffees, cozy cooking, and pumpkin painting. If you're looking for a fun outdoor activity, the MN Zoo's Jack-O-Lantern is going on. Last night, I went to the Zoo and strolled through the thousands of carved pumpkins (with a spiked apple cider in hand, yummy) and it was so lovely! Plan your trip and order your tickets here: Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
Have a great weekend, friends.
